This is a casserole I tossed together with what I had on hand. I might go heavier on the cabbage/lighter on the sausage next time, but it’s also pretty tasty as it is.
6 Italian sausage links, sliced
1 small white onion, thinly sliced
1 small tomato, chopped
3 pickled jalapenos, sliced
1 bunch green onions, sliced
1/4 large head cabbage, sliced
6 oz cream cheese
4 oz sour cream
salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and worcestershire sauce
4 oz grated mozzarella
Fry the sausage in butter until browned. Add the onion and continue frying until the onion is tender.
Add the tomato, jalapenos, green onions, and cabbage. Cook until the cabbage starts to soften. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and worcestershire sauce.
Meanwhile, combine the sour cream and cream cheese. I softened the cream cheese in the microwave to make it easier to stir. Stir the cream cheese mixture into the cabbage mixture.
Pour the mixture into a 9×13 pan. Sprinkle the mozzarella on top.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until hot, bubbly, and a bit browned.
