I read this article with interest, but was disappointed at its overselling of glycemic index and glycemic load and its vilification of saturated fat.

I would be interested to see whether someone with lots of obesity in their family (as I have) who limited sugar, ate natural fats generously, and ate beans, grains, and other higher-carb whole foods moderately from childhood would ever need to restrict carbohydrates as much as I would if I ever wanted to achieve a ‘normal’ weight. It’s an interesting thought experiment, but doesn’t help *me* because whatever damage years of insulin resistance have done has already been done and I can only eat according to my actual physiology.
