Flank steak was on sale for $4.99/lb at the Asian market this week. I had two ripe avocados, so this is what I ended up eating for supper tonight.

~1 lb flank steak

juice of 1 lemon

2 Tbsp. vegetable oil

salt, pepper, garlic powder, and chili powder

Combine the lemon juice, vegetable oil, and spices to taste. Pour them over the steak and marinate for a day.

2 avocados

juice of 1 lime


hot sauce

Just before serving, mash the avocados with the lime juice and salt and hot sauce to taste.

Heat a large cast iron pan over medium-high heat for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, remove the steak from the marinade and pat it dry.

Add some oil and swirl it around the pan. Immediately put the steak in the pan. Cook for 6 minutes, then flip and cook for 6 minutes more.

Remove to a plate, cover, and let the meat rest for 10 minutes before slicing thinly across the grain.

Put some steak slices on a plate, season with salt and pepper, and top with a generous amount of guacamole. Eat.
